ABOUT ME / FAQs

Hello, pie lovers!

My name is Julie Shaw and I'm your neighborhood pie lady. My story starts about 15 years ago when I randomly decided I wanted to learn how to make pie crust. In fits and starts, I practiced and practiced until I started getting the hang of it. Once I "caught the bug", I was making so many pies that they were literally molding (my family could only eat so many and were, by that time, "pie'd out"). I started selling a few here and there to my Kirkwood neighborhood.

Fast forward to March 2020 when Covid had the world shut down and I was baking pretty regularly since the travel from my corporate job had ground to a halt. When May 2020 rolled around, I was laid off from my manufacturing sales job.

Needing to continue to contribute to our family's wages, I quickly pivoted and what started as a side gig, overnight became a full-time gig. Pies by Julie was officially born! Since that time, I've baked thousands of pies by hand, using in-season products (local whenever possible).

Thank you for checking me out! See below for FAQs.

How do I buy your products?

The very best way to be in the loop is to subscribe to my emails (just add your email to the subscribe box at the bottom of this page).

Roughly once a week I will send an email to my subscribers with the current week's offerings. Act fast because they never last long! Pick-up is typically a day or two later with delivery available for a fee (within a 10 mile radius of my address).

Also follow me on IG @atlpiesbyjulie! I will often post updates in my stories.

How can I place a special order?

I will try my best to accommodate special orders but it depends on my workflow at that particular time. Just reach out (piesbyjulie@gmail.com or text 503-267-5884) and I'll do my best to make it happen. Please give me at least a week before your desired pick-up date. Special orders carry a 20% upcharge.

WANT A QUICHE?

It's easy for me to add an extra quiche to my wholesale bake every Wednesday. Text me at the beginning of the week and I can hook you up! 503-267-5884

I placed an order, how do I get it?

On your order confirmation, it will either state a specific pick-up window or it will say "flexible". If it says "flexible', I will email you shortly after receiving your order with several different pick-you times. Please reply to the email as soon as possible with the time that works best for you. Your order will be on my porch at 352 S Howard St SE during that specified time. Orders that aren't picked up without communication will be donated to a local charity organization.

Do you deliver?

Most of the time, yes! Once you sign up for my emails, you'll see a link to purchase the delivery option. If you don't see the link for delivery that means I'm unable to deliver for that offering. The fee is $5 for Kirkwood/Oakhurst and $10 for other neighborhoods (location must be within a 10 mi radius of 352 S Howard St SE).

Do you make gluten-free, dairy-free or other alternate pies?

I do often make gluten-free pies! You'll see these listed in my emails when available. I do not currently make dairy-free pies, as my crust is made from butter (it just tastes the best!). If you see something that you'd like gluten-free, just email me and I'll see if it's possible.

Where do you bake your pies?

I bake out of a commercial kitchen and have all required food safety certifications in addition to business licenses etc.

I bought some merch. Can't I just pick up from you locally and not pay for shipping?

Unfortunately, no. I use a platform called Printful and they process each order as they come in and ship them from their facility in another state. I don't buy large volumes of my merchandise and stock it locally. I've set the pricing as low as possible in order to keep the prices affordable. Sorry!

How can I contact you?

Please don't reach out through social media or I may miss it!
